! Furious Iran accuses US of striking Iranian nuclear facility in revenge attacks for deaths of two Americans

US air strikes on Iran overnight hit a nuclear-power plant under construction, according to furious Tehran officials.

During an eighth consecutive day of strikes on the country, the US attacked the partly built Darkhovin nuke facility in the southwest of the country, according to Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization — an assault that came the day after two American service members were reported killed, with a third still missing.

“An attack on a peaceful nuclear facility under international safeguards is a clear violation of international law,” the organization raged on social media.

The group did not reveal the extent of the possible damage from the attack, which the US has yet to confirm.

Two US military personnel were killed and a third is still missing from an Iranian attack on Jordan in response to the earlier American assault on Iran.

“The strikes are designed to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces who launched attacks against American service members in Jordan last night,” it said.

These latest attacks successfully targeted Iranian military coastal surveillance and air-defense facilities, Central Command said.

Iranian state media confirmed that the US carried out an attack near Sirik in the south of the country and a second location near Shadegan close.

The strikes follow a heightened spell of tensions in the region in the wake of the breakdown of a proposed peace agreement signed in June and brokered by Pakistan.

In response to the latest US strikes, Iran also carried out a drone attack targeting US military assets and equipment in Kuwait, according to Iranian state TV reports Sunday.

On Saturday, Iran destroyed at least two US fighter aircraft during a missile and drone attack on a US military base in Jordan, according to Iranian state TV.

Kuwait’s army said Sunday that it had again intercepted Iranian missiles and drones earlier in the day, after coming under sustained attack starting Saturday.

Bahrain’s air defenses also intercepted an Iranian attack Sunday, its state TV reported.

There were no reports of any casualties or damage in these latest attacks, and Iran did not claim responsibility for them.

On Sunday, the international airport and seaport in Aqaba, southern Jordan, were evacuated because of a “specific and credible threat,” added the US embassy in the Jordanian capital Amman.

Jordanian authorities said they had detected no potential threats in the past few hours and hadn’t issued an evacuation order.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced Sunday that it was continuing to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, the crucial chokepoint through which flows one-fifth of the world’s oil supply.

It said four vessels attempted to pass through the waterway using an “unsafe route” with US backing after ignoring IRGC warnings.

Two of the ships abandoned the attempts, while the other two were involved in an “accident,” said the IRGC, while not elaborating.

The deaths of two US service personnel bring the number of American service members killed since the joint US-Israeli war’s start in February to 16, while more than 420 also wounded, according to Central Command.
