President Donald Trump says the war with Iran could end immediately after the November midterm elections, linking his prediction to pressure on Tehran and the vote for control of Congress.

Speaking to reporters while traveling to the Republican convention in Dallas, Trump

claimed Iran is trying to influence the election and cannot withstand pressure much longer. No peace agreement accompanied his timeline.

Trump also predicted oil prices would fall after the election, when he expects the conflict to end. His comments came as the seven-month war continued disrupting energy markets and straining household budgets nationwide.

Regular gasoline averaged $4.30 nationally on September 11, more than one dollar

higher than a year earlier. Diesel topped $6 per gallon, increasing transportation costs that can eventually reach consumers through groceries and other everyday goods.

Brown University researchers estimate American consumers have paid more than $100 billion in additional gasoline and diesel costs since the war began. Oil prices have again moved above $100 per barrel amid renewed military tension near the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump remains confident that Iran will ultimately yield and that energy prices will ease. Do you believe the conflict will end after the midterms, or will it continue longer?
